Background: Mr Slinger told me by email, That he would also be informing the manager of the Cranage Hall hotel who in the same email Mr Slinger claimed was a friend of his and I should remove all links to Crannage hall Hotel. I have the email with headers if required. I do not consider them to be private, though I have not published the content here. I have changed all direct links to Crannage Hall into links to the Google map entry of the Hotel to avoid possible conflict with The Crannage Hall Hotel who I find are an excellent hotel.

I have nothing but praise for the Cranage Hall hotel having stayed there several times. It is, in my honest subjective opinion, an excellent hotel and again in my honest subjective opinion,a really good well managed alternative hotel to the Alexander Court.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Slinger for alerting me to the situation and giving me the motivation to actually check the reviews of his hotel and thus prompt me, after reading the poor reviews on the TripAdvisor website to inform, and pass on those reviews to my clientelle that confirmed my own suspicions that the Alexandra Court hotel falls far below my own stringent business standards.

I have stayed at the hotel and have the very expensive bills to prove this. My honest and true opinion is I thought the room smelt of Mushrooms and stale tobacco. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. I may be moved to join and write an honest review on the TripAdvisor website.

This hotel is described on the"Tripadvisor " website as a disappointing experience. Margaret from the midlands describes it thus...........

"a group of us booked this hotel to celebrate the 60th birthday of our family member. 6 of the group of 9 were residents staying the night. we finished dinner about half past eleven,we then went to the bar for a family get together . we could only have one drink at the bar because it was closed by a very unsociable member of staff at 12, which was very disappointing because the family had not been together for 4 years and we had been looking forward to it for several months. the breakfast menu was either full english or continental, however on ordering a continental we were told continental breakfast was not available because their supplier had not delivered. we found the staff extremely unhelpful and unfriendly and were left very disappointed by our experience."

An interesting building but strange experience. The hotel is run entirely on its own terms - customers come second. For example, no food (not even a bag of crisps) after 9.30pm..............Great showers, but overall, £80 not well spent.

The main problem with this hotel is the fact that they require a swipe/authorisation of your debit/credit card as a deposit as you check in. Even though this does not actually take any money form your account is does make your bank think that you are pending a transaction. This meant that as my sister and I did this on our debit cards we had no funds available to us until our banks reversed the transaction 7 working days later. This meant that my sister could not pay the hotel bill on her account and her boyfriend luckily had the money available. We contacted the hotel about this and asked them to reverse the transaction but they refused saying that a transaction had not been processed only an authorisation, and were quite rude about it and seemed like they did not believe us even though we got letters from our banks about it. Therefore, I had no access to the £100+ that they had performed an authorisation on for almost a week and half.

I have visited this hotel several times with work, and have to report . I found the service very unfriendly and the staff disinterested. I thought the room I stayed in smelt of stale tobacco. The service wasn't as good a I expected given the prices.

I now avoid the Alexandra Court hotel and prefer some of more friendly classier hotels in the area. I will avoid this hotel at all costs.

IF I was asked if I would recommend the Alexandra court hotel I would have to reply NO.
